Craftathon

So in the spirit of the Olympics I have been lining up all my projects (much like a pentathlon) to get through at Stitch n Bitch in a couple of weeks time.

I have been getting loads of inspiration at the moment from Pinterest (yes I am addicted). These are currently in my top 10.....

Chalkboard paint + silver trays = cool noticeboard

Been a while since I made some crazy critters - soon we will have a crazy baby critter in our family so I need to get my sew on

Great way to jazz up mugs as gifts or to personalise a mug for the office

Nothing but letters and white paint - one for those novice crafters.

I have loads of cutoffs and remnants of fabric lying around and this is a great way to use them up

Found a cute matryoska pattern that I have been meaning to cross stitch

Something to whip up quickly and it doesn't matter if you suck at painting as it adds to the charm

Been meaning to jazz up my sewing space for a while and this is a great way to display novelty sewing items

This is a little bit sewing little bit drawing - but looks a whole lotta cool

I have so many favourite songs that it would be hard to pick just one!

There seems to be a lot of things for the home - I'm in such a decorating mood and with spring just around the corner there is no better excuse to have an early spring clean.

Hope you all take away some inspiration from this.

Till next time.

Oh Betty your so fine....

What a weekend. Things were so cray cray!! Ergh I swear there are not enough hours in the day. I did get through my list of things to do however so it was a very successful weekend.

Saturday morning was spent 'speed dating' potential flatmates. Looking for a new flatmate is hard work, especially when you are after someone that you click with and don't mind sharing (aka messing up) your space. Have to admit there are some weird people out there.

I also managed to finish the dress that I have been working on. Cami (new flatie) has requested one for her b'day next month so will have to get sewing :) I also want to make another one for myself. Going to be a sewing machine for the next few weeks I think.

Sorry not the best pic (iPhone) - I decided to gather the waist in the middle and sew on a detailed brooch for a bit of added wow factor, I also added satin binding to the neckline.

Hyde park

Anyway it was such a gorgeous weekend here in Sydney, the sun was shining the birdies were singing and we did a bit of creative decorating in the flat. I've had all these pics scattered throughout the house for ages and have always wanted to do a picture montage on the wall. So Cami and I were bored on Saturday night and this is what we came up with.......

Now to work on getting a job that allows me to work from home so that I can stare at this all day :)

Till next time.

My week in pictures

There have been a lot of changes happening about the place at the moment, flatmates moving out, new flatmates moving in, people leaving at work (sob sob), and Sydney's weather (which just cannot make up its mind).

Playing with the morning sunlight in my room

What I see everyday when I walk to work - so pretty

Sydney harbour on a good day - one day later and it was bucketing down

Clean living - steamed chicken and mixed veg salad - nom nom nom!

Clean living treat - Vanilla soy yoghurt with LSA - oh so good!

Been getting my sew on - Betty is kindly modelling a dress that I am working on

Doesn't Betty look pretty - just the hem and sleeves to go and will post up new pic when it's done.

My missions for this weekend - get out for a run, do some sewing (my projects are starting to pile up), and of course play some hockey!!

Till next time

Made in Bali

I think I need to thank Pinterest for the latest purchase to hit my credit card. I came across these gorgeous shoes yesterday and when my eyes saw them I was in love.

BaliELF is an amazing shop based in Bali (hmm think the name says it) that makes the most exquisite leather works - namely shoes, purses, belts and bags.

They are called Native and come in a range of colour for only $90 USD (even less in AUD). What makes these puppies even better is that not only are you supporting the talented Bali artisan industry but they are made to order, so these babies will hopefully fit like a glove :)

Sooo there are loads of other items on here that would fit so well in my wardrobe (and with my new shoes), maybe i'll splash out for my birthday in a couple of months time and get a bag. I have my eye on this one (Bella $210 USD) which is leather outer and batik lining. Perfect companion for those lazy weekends outfits.

Is there anything on here that takes your fancy?

Till next time.

Bumps ahead

My gorgeous friend Trina at work is preggers and has been finding it hard to find nice comfortable clothes to fit her ever expanding bump.

So that's where Nicola comes to the rescue!

A pattern was selected out of my stash and off to Lindcraft we went one lunch time. She picked out this soft as a baby's bottom (sorry) stretch cotton jersey in a mid grey.

Betty has kindly modelled the finished product in Trinas absence.

Sorry these were taken in my iPhone and not the best quality

Might need to make some non preggy versions for myself as they were so quick and easy to whip up using my overlocker rather than trying to sew stretch with my machine (its a nightmare).

Till next time.
