Perfectly Pressed

Sydneys wild wind and torrential rain could not keep us away from the COFA Pressed evening last Thursday at the Beowolf Gallery in Woolarah. My lovely friend Angela invited us along to a showing of what they had been working on for the last few months as part of their COFA printmaking course.

It was a lovely evening out of the rain, a nice glass of red wine in hand, surrounded by bonsais, ogling at the detail and design of the prints on display. I got some serious inspiration to take a printmaking course myself, not that I dont have enough on the go already.

Here are some pics from the night events.

And congratulations must go to Ange for selling one of her pieces on the opening night, I know your piece is going to a nice home (you bet me to it Mark).

Inspiration Station

So who knew setting up a new business would be so hard, so many boxes to tick, feels like a never ending process. However, we have finally sent off the forms to register our name!!! Fingers crossed it gets accepted and then that is one big tick on the list.

In the mean time we have been researching ideas for our website and business cards and I came across Linda's blog - she is super talented! Also got inspiration for my next batch of crazy critter toys.

Phoebe the Bear

Madeline the Fox

Other things that have taken my fancy and spurred on the inspiration......

Badger Cub - too cute

Animal Outlines
Patterned animal silhouettes

So many ideas, its going to be hard to pick just one.

Till next time,

Stitch 'n Bitch

It was a weekend of giggles, gossip, good food and good company, with a bit of craft thrown in. Stitch 'n Bitch is a monthly gathering of friends who enjoy making new things, learning a new craft or just meeting new people. We had sewers, crocheters, cross stitchers and knitters. Thought that I would share with you a few pics from the day.

Helen working on a new singlet

Serious props have to go out to Ruth for baking this amazing savory pull-apart loaf - it was delish!

Need to get me one of these for all my bits and bobs.

Kirryns crazy critter.

My project for the day - cannot decide if its a rabbit or not

Maree hard at work sewing her makeup bag as shown below.

Finishing touches.

All in all it was a successful day, lots of tea drunk, laughs had and ideas for next time.

Have to start planning the next one.

Till next time.

Lace Lover

This weekend has flown by too fast, but I still managed to get some sewing done. On my last trip to Singapore I caught up with my friend Jie and she was instantly taken by a black lace dress that I made for the races a couple of years ago. So out of some similar lace I picked up on my adventure to Cabramatta I whipped up something similar. Quite surprised that it took me all of 2 hours from start to finish.

This is the original dress with handmade lace floral necklace/headband.

I made this one for the Randwick races however it was rained out so yet to wear this one. Love the scalloped edge of the lace hem.

This is the new dress that will soon be winging its way to Singapore.

Now I am off to enjoy some of this glorious Sydney sunshine.

Till next time.

Sew fabulous

Well as promised here is the update on how I am getting on with my projects.

1. Blazer is slowly coming together. Battled with the top pocket tonight but it looks just like a bought one :) So many pieces still left to sew. I know this is going to be a slow project but well worth it in the end.

2. Second fitting of my altered pattern for Maree's dress (still a few minor alterations done after the photo was taken but now it fits like a glove!!) All that tedious measuring and refitting has finally paid off and can now go ahead and cut it out from the real fabric.

3. Registering our business name this week!!! Once its done we will have the big reveal....can't wait to start marketing it.

Oh in other news I now have a gorgeous sewing table courtesy of Anna! I mentioned this in one of my previous posts and now I have the pics to prove it. Certainly has me inspired and not to mention organised. No more working off of the dining room table (think the flatties are happy about that).

Had a mani on the weekend and opted for a different colour as opposed to the standard red or neutral colour that I usually go for. Let me know what you think...

Anywho hope you are all having a wonderful start to the week.

Till next time.

Weekend in pictures

Love these cups I want a set! (www.amorelitadesigns.com)

Now these are stunning, designed by Samantha Robinson (www.samantharobinson.com.au)

Now these I couldn't resist and purchased the one at the bottom, gorgeous earings, rings and necklaces with a urban vibe. (www.stannard-inc.com)

Now it wouldn't be a trip to the markets without trying on some silly hats. These were really cosy and warm.

Decided on Gozleme for lunch - couldn't choose between pumpkin, leek and cheese or eggplant, capcicum and tomato, so we got both and went halves - nom nom nom.

Fringe Bar Markets - bring on summer I want to get my tootsies into some of these gorgeous sandals.

After being rather restrained earlier in the day I gave in when I saw this shirt by a local Sydney designer - there is no label as they are relatively new. Love the versatility of being able to button up the front panels, plus it is super long at the back Hard choice over colour as I wanted them all - finally decided on the caramel colour.

Was gutted to see that one of my fav local shops in Paddington was closing down :( Hope their other stores are still open.

Will post photos of the progress of the blazer and vintage dress in the next couple of days!! Coming along nicely.

Till next time.
